environmental monitoring
AbstractIt is estimated that 40% of the Cerrado, the second largest biome in South America, has been already converted. Therefore, the systematic monitoring of the vegetative cover becomes mandatory. In this study, we discuss the methodological approaches for such monitoring, on an operational and effective basis. Specifically, our study, in its beginning, intends to evaluate the use of change detection techniques, applied to both raw and enhanced Landsat imagery. In addition, the impact of seasonality on detecting changes will be assessed as well.
